Cucumber + St. Germain Margaritas

I just can’t let Cinco de Mayo pass without having one of these Cucumber + St. Germain Margaritas. I discovered St. Germain years ago and then came across THIS recipe from Freutcake. I’ve been playing with it ever since! I LOVE the simplicity and how a few ingredients make each other sing. The freshness of the cucumber and the sweetness of the St. Germain is a beautiful combination. The lime juice brightens the cucumber and cuts the sweetness of the liquor. And the seltzer topper. I’m a BIG FAN of a little effervescence in my bevs! Of course you can leave that out if you just want to get straight to the liquor and lime juice. No judgement.

You never know when someone’s going to jump in and say “Ooo! I want one too!” so I’m including several different batch measurements for you. The recipe makes 1 drink but if you want to double or quadruple the recipe it’s there for you. Sometimes math is harder when you’re one drink in… Make one or make many! Either way these margs are sure to make it into your summer bev repertoire. Be sure to check out the rest of my Cinco de Mayo menu HERE!

Cucumber + St. Germain Margarita

It's a thing of beauty when your favorite margarita comes from your own kitchen! A few fresh ingredients and this is sure to become your favorite too.

Ingredients

1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

1 tablespoon English cucumber, peeled and coarsely chopped

1 1/2 ounces 100% agave tequila

1 1/2 ounces St. Germain liquor

1 teaspoon lime zest (optional, for glass rim)

2 teaspoons kosher salt (optional, for glass rim)

lime seltzer (optional)

Instructions

WAIT! Zest your lime before you cut it! Proceed with the rest of the recipe.

If you want a salted rim on your glass:

Add the salt and lime zest to a small bowl and combine. Spread the mixture on a small plate and set aside. After squeezing the lime for the juice reserve the squeezed lime half and wet the rim of the glass with it. Turn the glass over onto the plate of salt & lime zest. Rub the glass into the mixture until the rim is coated. Set aside.

To make the margarita:

Combine the cucumber and lime juice in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Muddle the two together with a wooden spoon (either end, whichever works better for you) until more liquidy than chunky.

Add the tequila and St. Germain. Stir to combine.

Add a few ice cubes to your glass, salted rim or not, and pour in the margarita mixture. Top with seltzer if you want some bubbles. Imbibe!

Notes

Use the above measurements for 1 serving. For 2 margaritas: 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice + 2 tablespoons English cucumber, peeled and coarsely chopped + 3 ounces 100% agave tequila + 3 ounces St. Germain liquor

For 4 margaritas: 2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice + 1/4 cup English cucumber, peeled and coarsely chopped + 6 ounces 100% agave tequila + 6 ounces St. Germain liquor
